Easily.co.uk Adopts VeriSign Shared Security
March 12, 2003
Digital trust services provider VeriSign Inc. announced on Wednesday that it has extended the global reach of its Shared Hosting Security Services (SHSS) through an agreement with United Kingdom-based domain name registration and hosting company Easily.co.uk.
The agreement, says VeriSign, allows Easily's several thousand online merchant customers to receive the same level of authentication and encryption used by larger Internet retailers. VeriSign's SHSS allows shared hosting customers access to a shared SSL certificate held by the hosting company for encryption, along with individual authentication services provided by VeriSign. The authentication allows online merchants to display the widely-recognized Verisign Silver Secure Site Seal on their Web sites.
According to Steve Andrews, VeriSign's director of partner and business development, VeriSign has recently begun focusing its attention on partnering with hosting providers internationally to expand the range of the SHSS product.
"We have our sales organization around the world talking to Web hosting partners," says Andrews. "We find that the business and technology issues are pretty similar. So this is not just a US effort. It's really a worldwide focus."
